Total Cals Consumed: 1350cal
Total Cals Burnt: 0 cal
No exercise yesterday, but that's OK... I'm planning on doing a 45min walk this afternoon. Nola asked about my beetroot salad... very very tasty. Ingredients are as follows:
- 1 Beetroot (baked and then cut into chunks)
- 1/2 tomato (cut into wedges)
- Cucumber (cut into chunks)
- 50g Turkey Breast
- 20g pine nuts (not toasted, just raw)
- 1 spring onion (cut up)
- 1 tsp ranch dressing
Noice!! I baked more beetroot last night, but made it into a beetroot dip. So today for lunch I've got beetroot and Hummus dip (both home made) and 2 rice cakes. Great cos you can control the amount of fat that goes into the dips - I made the dips with olive oil, great for monosat fats!! :)
Anyhoo, that's all from me today. Have a good one!

Hey LBG, just a few questions if you don't mind. I have my first consult with the surgeon on Nov 25. 1. Are there any stand out questions that I should ask? Hindsight is a great thing, which you can prob offer some?
2. How do you swallow large tablets - whether they are vitamins, pain killers, meds, fish oil capsules etc?
3. You say that sushi doesn't really agree with you... do you have any idea why? Is it a case of it not being able to go through the band or the way you chew it? I'd imagine sushi would end up quite a sticky hard substance once chewed and swallowed (kinda like white bread which people seem to have trouble with).
I notice you exercise a fair bit - and it doesn't add up with your plateau, and please take my advice with a pinch of salt... but if you've reached a plateau, after looking at your meals, I'd suggest cutting out your processed sugars. Even slightly your natural sugars (beetroot is very high in natural sugars). You are taking in quite a bit of sugar which will be slowing your loss down I'm really not one to preach, but I learnt a few things in my time dieting and if any plateaus hit, eliminating sugar is a good start in ridding your body of those evils that slow down loss. It will also make you feel really good (once you get over the sugar headaches).
Anyway, thanks for sharing your story, it's really making me more determined to see this surgeon!

Thanks for the recipe!! I will give it a try......but......I have never cooked raw beetroot!! I know, I know...I am a total muppet!!! So, you get the raw beetroot....then what??? lol, lol
Hey LBG,
The beetroot salad sounds good. I've recently just rediscovered beetroot again and I'm loving it.
I notice you've got a new photo up...damn you are looking good.

Hi Smiles...I was worried about the pill thing as I take anti inflammatories and pain killers for my back. For the first week I crushed them (but you have to ask the pharmacy or dr if crushing them changes the make-up or potency) and I swallowed the crushed tabs with Gaviscon just to make sure I never got heartburn! But in the 2nd week I just swallowed them whole...my surgeon said to take them whole and I had no problems. Just ask your surgeon when you see him before surgery...he will soon tell you! Good luck!! I actually came in here to see if my instructions for "how to bake beetroot" were here!...lol
Never thought of the beetroot thing. I'll have to give that a whack. You are doing so great!
